Motivate Yourself to Use the Community Fitness Center

Now that ‘Snowpocalypse’ is subsiding here in Atlanta and we can finally get back to normal life, it’s time to start checking off those New Year’s resolutions that we set a few weeks ago…before the great snowstorm of 2011.  Within those resolutions, chances are there was something about getting healthy and in shape. Luckily for us Uptown Square residents, we have an amazing fitness center right here within the complex.  Even luckier, I’m going to give you 3 motivating tips that will get your rear off the living room couch and into the gym.

Be a Realist

How much experience do you have working out?  Take into consideration your level of fitness before you plan on going to the gym “everyday.”  Shoot for three 20-30 minute sessions per week to start out.  Build your way up the exercise ladder.

Track Your Progress

This is one of the most important steps to any type of workout plan.  You need to set benchmarks so you have an idea of your improvement.  Each minute, each mile you improve you can reward yourself with a pat on the back for a job well done.

You are You

In other words, don’t compare yourself to others.  Everyone is born differently, with different body types and metabolisms.  If you chase an unrealistic look, then you’ll never be satisfied with your efforts and you’ll miss out on all of the improving you’re doing.  Focus on yourself and what you want to see in you.  Leave the rest to the tabloids.

To me, these are the three most effective and important things to remember when starting an exercise routine.  There are seven more motivating workout tips that you can read; but take heed, it starts with you!
